Thráin then became King of Durin’s Folk (the Longbeard Dwarves) but he only reigned until the year 2850, when he died in the dungeons of Dol Guldur, after Sauron took the last of the Dwarves’ seven Rings of Power from him. Thráin briefly united all seven of the Dwarven peoples in an alliance against the Orcs of the Misty Mountains. The War of the Dwarves and Orcs lasted from Third Age year 2800 to 2864.
