Win a Hobbit Gold Coin from Denny’s

Rebecca Lynch from the Erwin Penland Advertising Agency has been working with Denny’s Restaurants to promote their upcoming Hobbit-inspired fall menu. Last year Erwin Penland and Denny’s flew several bloggers out for a special preview of their menu. Sadly, there was no such get-together this year, but they came up with something else.

I’ve been invited to give away 10 gold coins (promotional items — not real New Zealand commemorative coins) to readers of this blog. Each gold coin comes attached to a “Denny’s 20% off entire guest check coupon”. I guess that means if you take 20 people to Denny’s, pay for them all on one check, you could get 20% off the whole dinner (but read the coupon for details and restrictions — I’m just speculating).

Member, Denny’s Hobbit Advisory Board.

Why do I get to make this offer? Because Erwin Penland recruited me (among others) to be a member of their advisory board for promotions attached to “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” (as far as Denny’s is concerned). We signed a non-disclosure agreement so I can’t tell you what I’ve been advising them on.

So how does this contest work? Just like the last one we ran in January for two books about The Hobbit that Palgrave-MacMillan was promoting at the time. We will select random winners from the subscribers to the Middle-earth Blog’s Once Daily Digest.

All you have to do is add your email address to the list through the form at the bottom of this page. A confirmation email will be sent to you, and you MUST click on the link in the confirmation email.

Then at the end of October I will select 10 winners and forward their contact information to Rebecca at Erwin Penland. By subscribing to the Once Daily Digest you agree to be included in the random selection but if you don’t want to be leave a comment below and I’ll make sure you’re not. I don’t want to violate anyone’s privacy.

According to their Website, Denny’s has restaurants in 12 countries besides the United States although I don’t know if the coupon can be used outside the US. I’ll see if they can answer that question and I’ll update this article.

If you are under 18 years old you should only subscribe with a parent or guardian’s permission, but we don’t ask for ages and have no way of verifying them.

All final decisions will be made by Erwin Penland. If for any reason they invalidate a selected winner, a new winner will be randomly chosen from the pool. Members of the Xenite.Org and SF-Fandom network staff are ineligible for the drawing. Sorry. 🙁
